Τα χρονικά όρια της Λαρνακα Μπιενάλε άλλαξαν για να μείνει η ίδια.
Αν δεν άλλαζαν τα όρια της, τότε θα αναγκαζόταν να αλλάξει εκείνη.
Μπορεί οι συγκυρίες να μάκρυναν το ταξίδι προς τον τελικό σκοπό, όμως ο χρόνος δεν ήταν κάτι που απασχόλησε ποτέ ιδιαίτερα την Τέχνη.
Από το 2020 ως την επιβεβλημένη αναβολή μέχρι το 2021 είναι μονάχα ένας χρόνος διαφορά στο ημερολόγιο.
Στη ζωή μας όμως μοιάζει να πέρασαν αιώνες.
Διότι λογικά τόσο χρόνο θα χρειάζονταν τα γρανάζια της γης να γυρίσουν και να αλλάξουν τα δεδομένα, οι προτεραιότητες, οι ανάγκες.Ο κουρελιασμένος κοινωνικός ιστός άρχισε να ράβεται από μέσα ξανά.
Και η υφάντρα η Τέχνη δουλεύει διπλά μεροκάματα να προλάβει.
Όταν επιτέλους η ανθρωπότητα αναρρώσει και πάρει εξιτήριο από το σκοτάδι, να μην τρομάξει απ’ αυτό που θα αντικρίσει όταν κοιταχτεί στον καθρέφτη.
Υπάρχει κάτι στο οποίο εξασκηθήκαμε καλά από την πρώτη Μπιενάλε του 2018. Να προχωράμε μπροστά ακόμα και με περιορισμένη ορατότητα. Και όπως είπε και ο Μπράκ «Δεν υπάρχει στην τέχνη παρά ένα πράγμα που αξίζει: αυτό που δεν μπορεί να εξηγηθεί» .
Αυτό το ανεξήγητο «κάτι» λοιπόν, μας περιμένει τον Οκτωβριο και τον Νοέμβριο του 2021 στη Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη της Λάρνακας, στο Μουσείο Πιερίδη και στους υπόλοιπους εκθεσιακούς χώρους. Στα θέατρα, στις γκαλερί, στους δρόμους της Λάρνακας.Με παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις από τα Λεύκαρα μέχρι την Αθηένου.

Art, the Lady Weaver
The time limits of the Biennale have changed so that the Biennale could remain the same.
Let me put it the other way round, if you don’t mind the redundancy: if its limits hadn’t been changed, then the Biennale itself would have been forced to change.
Therefore, the Larnaca Biennale is still well on its way to becoming. The circumstances might have extended our journey to the final destination, but time was never of particular concern to Art.
2020, deferred until 2021 counts as merely one year in the calendar. But in real life it feels like ages.
With good cause too, as this is how long it would normally take for the earth’s cogwheels to turn and rearrange facts, priorities and necessities. The ruptured social fabric is now being woven anew from within.
And Art, the lady weaver, works double time so that when, at long last, humanity will heal and exit from the darkness, it will be able to face its reflection on the mirror undaunted.
There is something in which we have been well-trained since the first Biennale of 2018: move on, even in conditions of limited visibility. In the words of Georges Braque: “There is only one valuable thing in art: the thing you cannot explain”.
It is precisely this unexplainable “something” that will be waiting for us in October and November 2021 at the Larnaca Municipal Gallery, the Pierides Museum and the rest of the exhibition areas; in the theatres, the galleries, the streets of Larnaca, with parallel events from Lefkara to Athienou.
For new, “limitless limits”.
