Who is artist Corinne Fhima? Share with us a few things about you and your work in general.

I am a French artist and I work with my self-portrait which I named EVE.

EVE is a double, an avatar. With Eve I make series and I work mainly by making installations like EVE PARADISE the work presented at the Biennale and also performances.

With EVE I want to transmit the poetry of our daily life, in its expectations, its contradictions and the perpetual questioning of the meaning of life.

What was your reaction when you heard that you were awarded?

I was very happy and honored and I thank the Jury very much.
It’s great when your work resonates with other people. You feel that what you wanted to express or show is understandable and your creative energy has transmitted intangible emotions to hearts and brains. The work thus no longer belongs to the creator but to the spectator.

Tell us a few words about your awarded work.

EVE PARADISE OK is an installation that I made in situ at the Municipal Art Gallery in Larnaca.
It was a real challenge for me because I didn’t know what the end result would be. I only thought during the 10 days of the installation to find the right consumables and the plastic plants and thanks to Michail Elia who brought me to the Jumbo store.

With all the objects I found there, I created the perfect work of poetic consumer art mixed with inflatable structures, beach games that reference the beaches of Cyprus, plastic plants and fruits of our contemporary globalized paradise, and of course to the emoji OK our international language.

What was your overall impression about Larnaca Biennale 2021?

All the artists are chosen according to the artistic piece they propose for the exhibition.
It’s very good because in the exhibition we feel that all the pieces are linked by a poetic line.

A message you would like to send to artists that will apply in the future for participation in the Larnaca Biennale.

It’s a great opportunity for artist to exhibit at Larnaca Biennale.

It’s an occasion to meet with fantastic people that work for the Larnaca Biennale and get closer to Cyprus culture. I warmly recommend it.
