Larnaca Biennale 2023 organizing committee announces the opening for the position of the Biennial Curator, for the 2023 edition !
The Organizing Committee accepts applications from Cypriot and foreign individuals that are permanent residents of Cyprus.
Interested individuals will have to send their CV and their theme/concept for the next edition of Larnaca Biennale, to biennalelarnaca@gmail.com by the 30th of April 2022 inclusive. The completed theme description should not exceed 500 words.
Requirements:
- Experience in managing, organizing and setting up an art exhibition.
- Knowledge of the local and the international art scene.
- High ability to prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to collaborate with the team of organizers, the artists, the partners of the event and the public.
- Ability to easily communicate through oral and written speech.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Ability to solve problems and upcoming issues, effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in interpersonal relationships.
- Good knowledge of digital image editing and text processing.
- Possibility to work within a flexible timetable.
Duties:
- Collaborates with the team of organizers to develop and implement the long-term vision of the event.
- Defines the thematic context of the event. Produces related material, gives speeches and participates in television, radio and other interviews representing the Biennial.
- Collaborates with the team of organizers for the selection of the parallel events.
- Collaborates with the team of organizers for the selection of the Jury Committee members.
- Coordinates the Jury Committee and is responsible for the voting / selection process of the works as well as for the awarding process.
- Collaborates with the team of Assistant Curators setting priorities and schedules.
- Exercises the general supervision of the exhibition which includes the design/setting of the whole exhibition in all the exhibition venues.
- Organize and supervise the installation and dismounting of works in the exhibition venues.
- Collaborates with the associates and partners of the event both in technical matters and issues of promotion.
- Collaborates with the administrators of the exhibition venues to ensure the best possible organization of the exhibition and that the agreed terms and regulations between all parts are followed.
- Supervises that the general rules applying to the selected works, as well as the schedules by the participating artists (dates and times of delivery / receipt of works, technical characteristics, responsibilities and obligations of artists etc) are strictly followed.
Remuneration: 5% of the total budget of the event.
