Póthen ΄Ise? (from where)/[are (you)]
When the past meets the present…When the roots of the past interweave with the present…Following these invisible bridges you may find your home.
A contemporary dance performance where the dancers are the vessels, vessels through which the stories of ancestry echo. As the dancers move through the pathways of one’s roots with the quest to find home, the stage transforms into a sacred space where the past will shape the future of belonging.
This choreographic piece explores the idea of identity and of belonging while in the quest of finding home. In order to achieve this, the choreographer has delicately chosen music with folkloric characteristics of Slavic and Mediterranean countries. The movement was created by drawing inspirations from Hellenistic and Slavic (Russian, Bulgarian) symbols, particularly, their patterns, their repetitions and their intensities. Finally, this piece is created in a way which allows each member of the audience to interpret in a unique manner the deconstruction of the idea of home that occurs on stage.
