SUMMARY:The Art of Together
DESCRIPTION:A journey that brings together art\, play\, and imagination! \nChildren aged 6-11 are invited by actress and theater facilitator Theodora Andreou to take part in the educational program ‘The Art of Together’ which combines expression\, creation\, and experimentation. \nThrough six thematic journeys: Territory\, Time\, Text\, Tune/Rhythm\, Touch\, Textile/Weaving\, children discover invisible traces\, the power of objects\, time\, sounds\, and senses\, letting their imagination explore new possibilities and experiences. Using theatrical play\, movement\, improvisation\, sounds and storytelling\, the program encourages observation\, creativity\, interaction\, and collaboration. \nAt the end of the program\, the outcomes of the six workshops will gradually come together to form a collective art installation at the Municipal Market of Larnaca. The installation will invite the audience to interact and continue the ‘journey’ of creation\, giving it life and continuity beyond the exhibition space. \n*The workshop takes place at different exhibition spaces within Larnaca City Center each week—please check when registering. \nDAY 1 • 18/10/25 ‘Invisible Traces’ (territory) • Larnaca Historic Archive Museum \nIn the Invisible Traces workshop\, children will explore hidden lines and marks in the environment. Through theatrical play\, movement\, and visual activities\, they will use their imagination to create visible and invisible traces\, including drawings revealed with UV light and special markers. \nDAY 2 • 25/10/25 ‘Potential Resident’ (time) • Salina Park \nIn the ‘Potential Resident’ workshop\, children create an imaginary character that lives in or visits a nest of wires and lines. Using a 3D pen and engaging in creative activities\, they explore belonging\, identity\, and how personal stories connect with the collective\, bringing a character to life from imagination and play. \nDAY 3 •  1/11/25 ‘Secret Signs’ (text) • Larnaca Historic Archive Museum \nIn the ‘Secret Signs’ workshop\, children explore alternative ways to express emotions through color\, movement\, sound\, and symbols. Through collaborative activities\, they create their own “secret writing\,” fostering creativity\, teamwork\, and a sense of community. \nDAY 4 • 8/11/25 ‘Trace of Sound’  (tune) • Zouhouri Square \nIn the ‘Trace of Sound’ workshop\, children experiment with instruments and rhythms to create unique soundscapes. Each sound leaves a “trace” that can be seen as well as heard\, transforming sound into images and opening pathways to imaginary worlds. \nDAY 5 • 15/11 ‘Playing Traces’ (touch) • Larnaca Historic Archive Museum \nIn this workshop ‘Playing Traces’\, children will explore the traces left by time and learn how the past leaves its marks. Through games\, experimentation with materials\, and sensory activities\, they will combine creativity\, observation\, and interaction\, experiencing a hands-on journey that connects their bodies\, senses\, and the concept of time. \nDAY 6th • 22/11 ‘Box of Metamorphosis’ (textile) • Municipal Market / Agora (1st floor) \nIn the ‘Box of Metamorphosis’ workshop\, children explore imagination through the power of objects. Through play\, collaboration\, and storytelling\, they create small stage scenes\, transforming everyday items into magical elements\, while fostering creativity and freedom of expression. \n– \nThe Team:\nConcept / Artistic Curator: Theodora Andreou\nVideo recording / Photography / Poster: Michalakis Georgiou \nSponsors & Supporters:\nLarnaca Biennale \n→ ΕΓΓΡΑΦΗ

SUMMARY:The Sighlence of Sky / Η Σιωπή της Ουρανίας
DESCRIPTION:The Sighlence of Sky is a non-verbal mask and mime performance — a tender ode to the love and heartache that live within family bonds\, as a family navigates disability and neurodivergence. It is a piece that invites imagination\, empathy and deep human connection. The performance was first presented in Μontreal\, Canada\, in 2021 by Infinithéâtre\, conceived and performed by Anana Rydvald\, and directed by artistic director Zach Fraser. \nA solo piece in which the performer vividly and tenderly portrays three distinct characters — the Mother\, the Father\, and their child\, Sky. The storytelling unfolds entirely through physical expression and projected text\, creating a visual and emotional landscape where each audience member is invited to construct their own interpretation. \n “The Sighlence of Sky is inspired by my resilient sister who is the innocent constant in our lives in which we reflect back our humanity again and again.” Anana Rydvald\, Creator \nThe production won 2 Montreal English Theatre Awards\, including Outstanding Indie Production as well as Outstanding Lead Performance in an Independant Production. Since then\, The Sighlence of Sky has toured to multiple venues throughout Quebec\, in both English and French. \nThe performance in Larnaca will be presented on the 23rd of October with English text and on the 24th with Greek text. \n*The performance explores themes of neurodiversity and autism. If you have any questions regarding the suitability of the show\, please do not hesitate to contact us at +357 99636555. \nAudience Advisory: A brief strobe lighting sequence is included during the performance. SUMMARY:Zeno Philosophical Swim
DESCRIPTION:The philosophical swim is dedicated to Zeno\, the ancient Greek philosopher and native of Larnaca (Kition).\nThe motto is “I think\, therefore I swim\, I swim therefore I am”. To what extent is philosophy relevant today? What are the real philosophical issues\, and why are they important? To what extent does philosophy as a form of exploring reality fit into the lines and patterns of Larnaca\, and how it shape and influence the people? \nIgor Shnurenko and Molly Tallant made a 10-minute philosophical film about such a swim. The film is based on Igor Shnurenko’s philosophical reflections on Larnaca\, the collective memory of the city\, and the forms it took. \nTimeline: \n10:30 – Meet at OLIV Cafe\, in the lobby of the LIV Mackenzie Beach Suites Hotel\, under the sign “I think therefore I swim.” \nA raffle will be held among the swim participants by the host\, Igor Shnurenko. Each participant will receive a philosophical question to reflect on during the swim. \nPlease bring your own towels. Showers and changing cabins are available on the first floor of the hotel\, kindly provided by the administration. \n11:00 – Swim starts at Mackenzie Beach\, opposite the hotel. Approx. 30 minutes. \n11:40 – Participants return to the hotel to change. \n12:00 – Meet in the conference room on the second floor of the hotel for a short film screening (Morning Mile) and a philosophical discussion. The topic of the next philosophical swim will be determined by general vote. \nThe event is repeated on October 26. The second event is a continuation of the first\, but can also be perceived separately from it\, as an independent one. \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:The Thread / Tο Νήμα
DESCRIPTION:It begins with a prophecy: The thread unravels\, the self divides\, one face remembers\, the other transforms. We are all pawns of our own destiny. Our choices are the threads that shape it—guiding us toward liberation or binding us in place. \nYet every decision\, and every hesitation\, is etched into the fabric of chaos. \nThe Thread\, is a contemporary dance work that reimagines the myth of Ariadne and the Minotaur through a modern lens. Ariadne\, the thread\, and the Minotaur become central figures in a choreography that explores identity\, memory\, and transformation. The thread becomes more than a guide\, it is a symbol of lineage\, connection\, and the meaning we seek in the labyrinths of life. It speaks of tradition and change\, past and possibility. The labyrinth itself\, both literal and symbolic\, reflects the complex systems we navigate—personal\, cultural\, and psychological. \nWithin it dwells the Minotaur: a figure of chaos and the unconscious\, mirroring internal and societal conflict.Through the tension between light and shadow\, order and disorder\, The Thread unravels how we confront complexity and seek clarity\, tracing the fine line between fate and freedom. \nThe Team\nChoreographer: Rozmarie Pantzi Koulia\nPerformers: Monika Meleki\, Rozmarie Pantzi Koulia\, Pantelina Pantzi\, Eleftheria Prokopiou\, Christina Demetriou\, Danae Loizidou\, Evelina Charalambous\, Maria Kallishi\, Eleni Stylianou\, Theofano Siamakkide.\nLighting Designer : Valantis Neokleous \nSponsors & Supporters:\nΆντρη Χαρή Εργαστήρι Ζωγραφικής\, Tremetousiotis Supermarket\, LSTS AUDIT SERVICES LIMITED\, Ballet School Fouetté\, Filmblades Ltd\, Arachne 3D printer\, Οργανισμός Νεολαίας\, Larnaca Biennale \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:The Lines and Traces of Identity
DESCRIPTION:Masked play is a powerful theatrical tool that unlocks creative freedom and inspires dynamic character work. Gestural mime fosters a precise physical language that leads to clear\, nuanced\, and emotive storytelling—reminding us that actions have power and the body speaks. \nIn this workshop\, led by Anana Rydvald and Zach Fraser from Montreal\, Canada\, participants will use full-faced and half-masks to explore physical storytelling with a playful\, improvisational spirit. Together\, they will develop complex\, authentic characters while pushing creative boundaries\, taking risks\, and discovering new layers of voice\, body\, and emotional depth. \nConnecting to the Biennale’s theme “Along Lines and Traces\,” the workshop investigates how gestures and movements leave physical and symbolic marks—traces of history\, identity\, and imagination. Masks\, as both concealment and revelation\, become abstractions of these lines\, embodying the stories we carry and the identities we shape. \n* This workshop is in English suitable for ages 16 and up. Open to all. Theatre background or training is not mandatory.  \nWhat to bring:\n• Bring a water bottle . A complimentary lunch will be provided—please make sure you mention any allergies/dietary preferences when registering. \n•Come with a creative\, open\, and non-judgmental spirit \nLimited capacity \nSpecial Offer: Workshop participants receive one complimentary ticket to the performance \n“The Sighlence of Sky” by Anana Rydvald\, directed by Zach Fraser (23-24 Oct\, 2025 Larnaca Castle) \n– \nAbout the instructors: \nAnana Rydvald /  Performing ArtistMontreal-based actor\, mask artist\, and voice performer of Danish-Swedish origin.

SUMMARY:Curator's Walk
DESCRIPTION:The curator’s walk takes place through the streets and shoreline of Larnaca during the Biennale\, where the city itself becomes both setting and subject. Inspired by David Le Breton’s notion of walking as a way of inscribing meaning in the world\, the walk invites participants to encounter Larnaca not as a backdrop but as a living body of memory and movement. \nRather than a conventional guided tour\, the walk becomes a shared choreography of attention. Silence\, listening\, or reflection are introduced as ways of attuning to Larnaca’s layered presence. In this way\, the city reveals itself as archive and stage\, both fragile and enduring. \nThrough the act of walking\, participants inscribe themselves into Larnaca’s ongoing story. Each step creates a fleeting but intimate bond with the city\, echoing Le Breton’s insight that walking is a way of weaving meaning into the fabric of the world\, here experienced in the context of the Biennale as a living\, participatory exhibition. \nStarting Point: Piale Pasa (exact starting point upon registration) \nEnd Point: Larnaca Historic Archives Museum \nAt the conclusion of the walk\, a special guest talk (+40 min) is offered to those who wish to stay further. \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Togetherness - Resonances of Expression / Public Performance
DESCRIPTION:Togetherness converts digital speech into generative art through linguistic analysis\, sound processing\, and visuals. Created during an S+T+ARTS residency at Sony CSL\, it fosters the perception of hidden emotional connections in online language. \nThe artwork\, powered by Amrita—a living algorithm developed by the artist through his research on AI and spirituality—transforms text into evolving musical and visual compositions inspired by behavioral theories from Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman. \nAudiences participate by submitting phrases via devices that are interpreted in real-time\, co-creating unpredictable\, evolving symphonies alongside the algorithmic entity and the human musician. \nThe work exists as performance or installation\, requiring projection\, screens and audio systems. By sublimating language into harmony\, \nTogetherness reimagines digital dialogue through multisensory perception\, revealing the invisible emotional threads that bind us together via our contributions to the infosphere. A fusion of machine intelligence and human artistry\, it challenges how we experience the weight of words by shifting time\, space and expression through music\, visuals and the performative act. \nArtist: Filippo Gregoretti Part of the Open Call “Along Lines and Traces “ \n– \nΤο Togetherness μετατρέπει τον ψηφιακό λόγο σε γενετική τέχνη μέσω γλωσσικής ανάλυσης\, επεξεργασίας ήχου και οπτικών στοιχείων. \nArtist: Filippo Gregoretti Part of the Open Call “Along Lines and Traces”

SUMMARY:Unspoken Messages / Public Performance - Installation
DESCRIPTION:At Zouhouri Square\, Liv Ingeborg Ottersen is present for the entire duration of the Larnaca Biennale\, welcoming visitors and inviting them to take part in her evolving artwork. \nCatch Liv Ingeborg Ottersen on October 16th from 17:30 to 20:00\, alongside multiple performances at Zouhouri Square\, or visit on any other day during the Biennale. \nThe work begins with delicate strips of colored tulle\, each threaded with fine cords\, inviting passers by to attach their personal messages. Soft\, almost iridescent shades of tulle create a dreamlike\, floating backdrop. Over time\, the fragments are woven together on-site\, forming a flowing curtain that transforms as contributions accumulate. \nParticipants are encouraged to write wishes\, reflections\, or private thoughts on small pieces of paper\, folding them into sealed notes before fastening them to the hanging threads. These notes act as visual markers\, recalling traditions in which offerings are placed or tied within sacred or communal spaces. By remaining sealed\, the messages emphasize the interplay between what is revealed and what is kept hidden\, offering intimacy while preserving mystery. \nAs the installation expands\, it evolves into a living\, dynamic record shaped by communal participation\, showing how words\, intentions\, and interactions leave enduring marks on each other and the shared world. \n– \nArtist: Liv Ingeborg Ottersen \nPerformance-installation: textile\, paper \nPart of the Open Call “Along Lines and Traces” Exhibition

SUMMARY:Home/ Hope
DESCRIPTION:International Guest Artists Exhibition. Part of the Parallel Events Program of Larnaca Biennale 2023. \nVisiting hours until November 24th\nMonday Closed\nTuesday – Friday 12:00 – 20:00\nSaturday – Sunday 10:00 – 20:00 \nHOME/HOPE is a capsule exhibition centred on notions of belonging\, identity and our dreams for the future at the Larnaca Biennale in Cyprus. Curated by Yev Kravt\, this exhibition features 30 guest artists\, all exploring the intricate theme of “home” from diverse perspectives. \nJust a single letter differentiates home from hope; but does the notion of home exist without hope\, and can hope truly surface without a place to call home? The subject of belonging opens up a myriad of stories\, told in a multitude of ways. Home is a world we create\, where we can unapologetically be ourselves. Hope\, meanwhile\, speaks to a world set free\, brimming with possibilities. Whether our aspirations are personal or collectively shared\, our inherent ambition to strive forward and evolve ushers in visions of a brighter tomorrow. \nHOME/HOPE explores these intertwined notions\, telling tales through the works of 30 selected artists. The exhibition takes cues from several pressing questions: how might the definition of home be changing? What constitutes hope? And crucially\, how do these separate concepts reinforce one another? \nThe exhibition includes contributions by 30 visual artists\, including: Andreas Kalli\, Armen Ter-Mkrtchyan\, Aukje Dekker with SEXYLAND\, Benji Boyadgian\, Danae Stratou\, Cengiz Bodur\, Droog x KesselsKramer\, George Stamenov\, Gohar Martirosyan\, Guy Ben-Ner\, HovHar\, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige\, Maria Touloupou\, Melanie Bonajo\, Neo Matloga\, Olgaç Bozalp\, Pet Liger\, Raida Adon\, Rosana Palazyan\, Selma Selman\, Silvina Der-Meguerditchian\, Slavs and Tatars\, Sunny Dolat\, Tal Shochat\, Tania El Khoury\, Turan Aksoy\, Vyacheslav-Yura Useinov\, World Citizen Government and Yves Sambu. \nHome in this exhibition is not merely a physical space\, but an emotional\, cultural\, and sometimes virtual territory. It can be a refuge\, a distant dream\, an origin story\, or even an illusion. It’s often a place we go to find solace. In a globalised world\, our sense of home is fluid\, elusive and rich with potential. The HOME/HOPE exhibition spotlights new modes of (co)existence – and the boundless imagination that unites us\, wherever we may be. \nSpecial performances in the exhibition space. Aukje Dekker and the SEXYLAND Collective will perform The Sea by Night (14-15 October)\, while Raida Adon will perform during the opening (14 October). Tania El Khoury’s performance – As Far As My Fingertips Take Me takes place on the weekend of 14-15 October. \nSupport\nThe exhibition is supported by the Larnaca Biennale\, Foundation Brave New Works\, Ministry of Education\, Science Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia\, Embassy of Armenia to Cyprus\, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Philippossian & Pilossian Foundation\, ART For the World\, Armenian Arts Council in Yerevan and EMST National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens (ΕΜΣΤ). \nOfficial Website

SUMMARY:Home Away From Home
DESCRIPTION:“What is it that constitutes a home\, beyond just bricks and mortar? Over the years and around the world\, we ‘ve grappled back and forth with the many meanings of this word. It will be filled with stories\, some particular\, some entirely universal\, which all give rise to our sense of self.

SUMMARY:Threads On Home
DESCRIPTION:Lecture Series: exploring diverse perspectives on the concept of ‘Home’. \nGuest Speakers invited by Yev Kravt. \n“Threads on Home” is a lecture series that is part of Larnaca Biennale 2023\, centered around the theme ‘Home Away From Home.’ This series takes place every Tuesday at 19:00 in the Living Room at Lazarus Square in Larnaca. Each week\, we delve into different themes over five weeks\, featuring five unique speakers. We kick off with Psychology\, followed by Environment\, Architecture and Design\, Philosophy\, and Space and Technology. Each week\, a different topic and lecturer explore the concept of ‘home’ from different perspectives\, concluding with a Q&A session. Attending is free\, just let us know that you are coming by RSVP? \nWeek 1: Psychology\nWe start with guest speaker\, Dr. Christakis Peristianis\, who boasts an interdisciplinary background merging sociology\, social/cultural history\, and human geography. Over the past seven years\, he has dedicated his research to the concept of ‘Home.’ His PhD work\, “Legacies of Displacement: The memories and meanings of home among a Greek Cypriot family\,” delves into what occurs when home vanishes\, leaving only memories. \nWeek 2: Environment\nIt’s easy to forget that our primal home once thrived within the natural world\, deeply embedded within the environment. Dr. Maria Hadjimichael explores the ‘home’ theme from an environmental perspective. She is an interdisciplinary scientist in the field of marine and coastal governance\, with extensive academic and research experience. Currently\, she serves as a Senior Associate Scientist at CMMI\, the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute. \nWeek 3: Architecture and Design\nDr. William Myer\, who combines the fields of environment and architecture and design\, will speak about BioDesign. His book\, “Biodesign” (2012\, 2018\, 2022 editions) published by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)\, identifies the emerging practice of integrating biological processes into design and architecture. Myer also serves as the Founding Director of the new Museum of 21st Century Design (M21D). \nWeek 4: Philosophy and Spirituality\nThis theme will be explored though an online session with contemporary philosopher and NYU professor Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah. Dr. Appiah delves into his book\, “Lies that Bind Us: Rethinking Identity\,” challenging our assumptions about how identities function. He provides insights into the creation of identities amidst conflicts. The event will still take place at The Living Room with physical attendance. \nWeek 5: Space and Technology\nOur final discussion bridges space and technology through innovation. Dr. Nir Tsuk\, a seasoned practitioner\, academic\, and facilitator with over two decades of international experience in social capital\, entrepreneurship\, and the culture of innovation\, will lead this session. Dr. Tsuk is the founder of NYU’s Institute for Impact and Intrapreneurship\, pioneering the language of innovation. \n  \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:What will Your Home be if you Don't Remember it?
DESCRIPTION:Children’s Art Exhibition on Alzheimer’s Disease and lecture by Dr. Andreas Chadjikyprianou\n and lecture by Dr. Andreas Chadjikyprianou \nConsider a treasure chest full of priceless memories. What if someone accidentally placed the key inside the treasure chest and you couldn’t remember where the key was or what was inside? This is similar to what happens to people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. It has an impact on the ability of mostly elderly people to remember things. It’s the equivalent of forgetting where you put your toys or what you had for breakfast. But imagine you’ve forgotten where you live or who your family is.That would be terrifying! \nAlzheimer is a disease that affects one of the human body’s most important parts\, the mind\, or as it is scientifically known\, the brain. \nGuided by their creativity\, children ages 7-15 have been asked to paint and create what their home would be like if they didn’t remember it. What would their mind look like if it was worn out? What does a sufferer think? How are their brain neurone’s working? \nAfter the exhibition\, Dr. Andreas Chadjikyprianou will give a 20 minute presentation on Alzheimer’s disease. Participants will explore the relationship between Alzheimer’s and dementia\, learn what happens in a brain affected by Alzheimer’s\, learn about risk factors and receive helpful information. Live discussion and reception will follow.

SUMMARY:To The Sea With Her Names
DESCRIPTION:Mixed Media Exhibition: A group show by six Asian Artists \n“A name could be signified by a memory and in turn prompt a story\, it can compose identity\, or conjure character. This project’s aim is a group exhibition\, in a common site in Cyprus\, but also a name that has existed for hundreds of years\, thinking about the possibilities of resonating with foreign perspectives.\nArtists from diverse backgrounds will engage with local communities and look beyond borders. The artists not only work in local contexts\, but also trying to reply to the contemporary dilemmas common to the global.\nArtworks begin from the relationships developed in Cyprus\, exploring various dimensions like the role of the sea\, geopolitics\, historical diversity\, local industry\, and traditional crafts. From the artist’s memories and experiences in his own social relationships\, he summons different stories.\nThese stories look at the relationships and tensions hidden by the grand narrative\, such as the emotions erased by history\, the time lost in the wear\, the determination to preserve life in the conflicts and Political wrangling\, and so on. They are ambiguous\, irrelevant to directivity\, but discordant sounds\, ubiquitous\, and real\, mixed.\nThe repeated waves are like the cancellation and return of history\, and we hope to add diverse faces to the ocean of history through the flexibility and imagination characteristic of art.” – Shaoan Huang
